Designer, Michele LaVie has extensive experience as a custom fine jeweler for the past 12 years. Michele is diamond certified and educated in colored gems through GIA. She has enjoyed much success with her company LaVie Diamonds, creating fine jewellery for celebrities including Hilary Duff, Anne Heche and Jessica Alba. She has also been featured in the Good Life Vancouver Magazine. For custom jewelry enquiries please visit www.laviediamonds.com
She was motivated to create Paw-Purr Bling Designs when she found her new love – Shadow – a Coton de Tulear. In doing research on pet jewelry, she found that most pet charms are inexpensive, cheaply made, and LEAD based!! Lead is just as harmful to your beloved pet to chew on as it is for people! Many of these inexpensive charms are coated in a plating which pets will eat– again, not a healthy proposition! So the decision was easy--create charms for your beloved dog or cat which are of the highest quality silver, with beautiful crystals.
So Michele adapted her skills as a successful fine jeweler for your furry friends. Shadow is now the model for many of her inspired pet charms, with matching pendant and earring designs for the owners.
If you don’t have a pet, these designs can also be adapted for cell phone, purse or even zipper charms.
Shadow
Michele’s dog Shadow, a Coton de Tulear (white cotton ball) was her inspiration for the creation of Paw-Purr Bling jewelry for pampered pets and people. The Coton de Tulear is a rare breed dog, which comes from Madagascar. It is a non-shedding, perfect companion dog, about the size of a havanese or bichon frise.
Shadow came to Michele from Saskatchewan from a special breeder. Her name is Cathy Enns and her website is www.jomarans.com . Check out the website for information about the Coton de Tulear breed.
When attending tradeshows to promote her designs for LaVie Diamonds, Shadow would often steal all the attention as he is a rare breed, a perfect companion and not to mention a great model for Paw-Purr Bling. Michele designed the Fire Hydrant in honour of her non-shedding, furry friend.
Shadow just completed a Basic Family Manners class with Gentle Puppy Training. We are happy to report that he passed with flying colours and even came in 1st place in the PUPPY OBEDIENCE OLYMPICS held on the last day of the course!!! WE ARE SO PROUD OF HIM!! Monique Charbonnier directs a wonderful program. Check out:
